The rich over the past 40 years have paid marginal tax rates only about 15% higher than the middle class. However, in the 60s, anyone making over 400,000 a year paid a 94% tax rate on every dollar made over 400,000 per year. So wonder the federal government got so big. Too bad neither party really wants to reduce the size of the federal government.
